Chris Soules cut from Dancing with the Stars: What’s next for the former Bachelor?
Chris Soules broke down in tears on Tuesday night when it was announced that he was one of two contestants that would be leaving the Dancing with the Stars competition this week. The former Bachelor, who was cut along with his partner Witney Carson, later expressed his disappointment of having his time on the ‘Dancing’ end, prompting fans to wonder what’s next for the farmer-turned-reality-star.
Now that his stint on Dancing with the Stars has ended, Chris has a few paths that he could take with his career. Although he has frequently expressed his love of farming—and his eagerness to get back to his Arlington, Iowa, farm in time for harvesting season—he has now seen the bright lights of Hollywood, which means he may follow the paths of several other former Bachelors and pursue a career in entertainment.
Here, we examine the different options that Chris could take with his career.
Go back to Iowa and start planning his wedding.
Chris became engaged to Whitney Bischoff during the finale of The Bachelor, but the two have yet to start making plans to get hitched. Chris went straight from The Bachelor to ‘Dancing,’ which left little to no time for him to hang out on the farm with Whitney, let alone start planning a wedding.
“I’ll be able to get back to normal, and get back to work,” Chris told Us Weekly after his elimination on Tuesday. “My family needs me back there and we’re in the middle of planting season which is one of the most important times of the year for us. I’m excited to be back there, that’s something I really enjoy.”
He also stated that he’s looking forward to spending more time on the farm with his fiancé.
“The goal is to start building a life in Arlington,” he said. “I think we’re both looking forward to being out of the spotlight and Arlington’s the best place to do that!”
Do another television show.
While Chris claims to be eager to go back to the farm, it’s possible that he could be swayed to do another TV show. After all, he already has three under his belt! He first starred on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, then followed it up with stints on The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars.
Several former Bachelors have chosen to use the fame they’ve garnered from the show and continue on with a career in television.
Dr. Travis Stork, who starred on The Bachelor in 2006, is now a co-host of The Doctors. Jesse Palmer, the show’s fifth Bachelor, went on to host a sports talk show, as well as several reality shows. Jake Pavelka has appeared on five reality shows since his days as The Bachelor, including Dancing with the Stars.
Get married and live off his Bachelor fame.
Currently, Sean Lowe is the only Bachelor star to marry the woman he chose at the end of his season, but Chris could easily become the second. Sean, who before going on the show was listed as an “entrepreneur,” seems to be using his Bachelor fame to his benefit. Earlier this year, he released a book about his time on the show, and frequently makes appearances at Bachelor events. Chris may want to consider taking Sean’s lead and using his Bachelor fame to his advantage.
Do a reality show with his fiancé.
While it’s never been done by any Bachelor star (yet), Chris and Whitney are in a great position to do a reality show about their relationship. Fans are already invested in their story, so doing a “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica”-type reality show may be a great way for them to stay in the spotlight while staying together.
Of course, that would leave them vulnerable to the “reality show curse.” Many couples who do reality shows together end up breaking up. See “Nick and Jessica” for reference.
Break up with Whitney and start dating ‘DWTS’ partner Witney Carson.
Chris and Witney have been plagued by rumors since the season began that there was more going on between them than just dance lessons. Both Chris and Witney have denied the reports, however, with Witney recently speaking out about how “annoying” the rumors have become.
“Chris and I have great chemistry and we have a great friendship, but that’s all it is,” she said. “I’m just teaching him how to dance!”
Bachelor fans will have to wait and see which path Chris chooses to take!
