Chris Pratt Was A-No Brainer For The Lead Role In Guardians Of The Galaxy

Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt landed the lead role of Peter Quill in the latest Marvel blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy, and as revealed by top film producer and President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, casting Chris for the movie was a very easy decision.

Sharing the screen with Zoe Saldana as well as the vocal talents of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, Chris plays the lead role of Peter Quill/Star Lord in the new summer blockbuster.

Despite their longest and most elaborate audition process to date, it seems it was clear from the start that Chris Pratt was the man for the job. After considering a whole host of actors, including some high profile hopefuls, Chris walked through the door and won everyone over.

Kevin Feige described him at a Q&A attended by EntertainmentWise today as “the most dynamic and most charismatic of any of the actors” and revealed that he was the only one to give them “the feeling”.

It was lucky for everyone really that the director of Marvel’s latest space epic, James Gunn persuaded Chris to audition – apparently he was too self concious about his ‘Parks and Rec’ figure at the time – otherwise he would have never landed the role and we wouldn’t get to swoon over him on our big screens.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows the adventures of Peter Quill (Pratt), a half human/half alien traveller, who finds himself in trouble after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Nebula (Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan) and Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. Quill is soon forced to team up with a group of misfits in order to survive.

The movie hits UK cinemas on July 31.
