Chris Harrison On Why He Didn’t Reveal Next Bachelor Star Last Night: ‘The Decision Hasn’t Been Made’

Chris Harrison left Bachelorette fans hanging last night when he failed to reveal who had been chosen as the franchise’s next Bachelor star. It has been widely reported that Andi Dorfman’s second runner-up, Chris Soules, will be the next guy to try and find love on the reality show, but in a new blog for Chris Harrison denies the claim and reveals the reason he didn’t announce the next Bachelor on last night’s “After the Final Rose” special.

“The truth is we haven’t decided 100 percent on whom that is yet,” Harrison wrote. “Obviously we take this decision very seriously and a lot goes into this process. There are endless discussions and heated debates on which direction to go and what to do.”

At one time during the special, Harrison made it seem like he was about to announce the big news, making his way to where Soules was seated, but then told the audience that it was not time for the announcement yet. In his blog, Harrison said that he and the show’s producers have had many “heated debates” as to who should be the next guy to give out the roses, and that fans can expect a decision soon.

“We are very close to making that decision, but the only big mistake we could really make is to rush this and try to get it done in time for last night’s show,” he wrote. “I know you’re all anxious, and I wish I could tell you exactly when we’ll make that announcement, but I just can’t because the decision hasn’t been made.”

In addition to Soules, it has also been rumored that producers are considering Arie Luyendyk Jr., the runner-up from Emily Maynard’s season of The Bachelorette, for the next Bachelor. In January, Arie commented that he’d like to become The Bachelor if the gig was offered to him.
