Chris Fountain Sacked From Coronation Street Over ‘Unacceptable’ Vulgar Online Clips
Chris Fountain has been surrounded by speculation over the past few days after he was revealed as the man behind the mask in a rap YouTube clip and a statement from ITV has now confirmed that the star has officially been sacked from the show.
It was revealed last week that the 25-year-old had been suspended from the show as a result of an online video in which he delivered a foul-mouthed rap which included lyrics about rape.
ITV revealed tonight that Chris’ contract has now been terminated, stating to the Daily Mirror: “Chris Fountain’s contract with ITV has been terminated as a result of the unacceptable comments he made in a number of online clips.”
A rep for Coronation Street has since confirmed to EntertainmentWise that this information is correct.
The report continues to state that bosses have decided not to edit Chris out of episodes he has already filmed so his character mechanic Tommy Duckworth, will appear on TV next week.
The star was immediately suspended from the ITV soap after he was shown wearing a Halloween mask and using ‘The Phantom’ to rap lyrics about bombing houses and stabbing people in the face with syringes.
He issued a statement apologising for his actions, stating: “I would like to sincerely apologise for any offence I have caused. I am deeply ashamed by the lyrics and very much regret my behaviour.”
“The videos were made over a year ago when I was experimenting with music and I’ve not done anything like it since and nor will I.”
