We all remember the Brit Brit breakdown – when the singer was seen smashing up a paparazzi car with an umbrella and famously shaved her head – and now Britney has spoken on that particular “trying time”. She admits that during that period in her life she felt “alienated” from her fans and she stayed inside her house for two years straight. She reveals that fans eventually “lightened up” when she was out of the spotlight and she started to feel better. She also reveals that her shyness might have been the source of her breakdown:

”But as time passed, they lightened up and they went away after I wouldn’t come out of the house for two years. It was a trying time. It was kind of confusing for me. Personally, I’m a shy person and I’m particularly not really made for this industry because I am so shy. It’s not something I deal with so well.”

Britney added that the pressure that comes with fame can be difficult to deal with and she often doesn’t express herself as well as she could which has been a problem for her in the past:

”Pressure is a funny thing. Sometimes I tend to go inward when I’m under pressure. I tend to keep it all in. I don’t express myself too much. If I’m really nervous I’m really quiet. But I think I thrive under pressure.”
