Britney Spears Admits Mistake After Saying Annette Funicello’s Death Is ‘Great’

As Disney fans will already be well aware, original Mouseketeer Annette Funicello passed away today following a long-term battle with multiple sclerosis. But, when modern day Mickey Mouse Club star Britney Spears was asked for a quote on the sad tidings, her response left reporters shocked.

“I think that’s great!” she said, appearing to mishear the question.

Yup, when TMZ.com quizzed Britney Spears today about the passing of Annette Funicello, who died today aged 70, she took a moment before smiling and revealing that the news was “great”.

Oops, she did it again.

Britney, who shot to fame alongside Ryan Gosling, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake in the modern day Mickey Mouse Club, quickly realised her mistake and took to Twitter to correct herself, explaining that she had (obviously) misheard the question:

“Misheard a question I was asked earlier by press while I was out and about. I am DEVASTATED to hear about the passing of Annette Funicello”

“She was a role model for me during my days as a Mousketeer.”

We’re glad Britney Spears took the time to correct herself and pay tribute to one of Disney’s most iconic Mouseketeers – in a tone slightly more in keeping with the sad occasion!
