Borat’s Sacha Baron Cohen Beaten Up In New York

The creator of ‘Borat’ and ‘Ali G’, Sacha Baron Cohen has been beaten on the streets of New York for being…well, a bit too Boratish.

British comedian Cohen was with fellow Brit Hugh Laurie in the Big Apple; they had just appeared on Saturday Night Live and were heading for a Manhattan bar when the incident occurred.

Cohen, who was at the time dressed as Borat approached a man on the street and said: “I like your clothings. Are nice. Please may I buy clothing? I want have sex with it.”

However, the man in question failed to get the joke and instead decided to punch Cohen in the face repeatedly. He was only saved from serious injury by the intervention of his friend Laurie.

A friend of Cohen’s told the Mirror: “Sacha couldn’t resist playing the fool as Borat, but picked on the wrong person.

“I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sacha is very lucky he didn’t get a much worse beating.”

Very lucky indeed…
