As Demi Moore And Ashton Kutcher Finalise Their Divorce, We Take A Look Back At Their Marriage

It’s officially all over for Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher as their divorce was finalised earlier this week. In honour of the celebrity couple who made Twitter the place to see pics of Demi in her pants, EntertainmentWise has the run down of their relationship highs and lows.

With all the quickie divorces that happen in Hollywood, it is easy to forget that between solicitors and lawyers the whole thing can take a good couple of years. That’s why we had completely forgotten that the once golden couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher weren’t actually divorced until earlier this week.

The pair split up in 2011 after rumours of Aston’s extra martial affairs surfaced. We always loved the gorgeous couple and even though they have both moved on now, let’s take a trip down memory lane, when Twitter’s favourite couple were still happily married.

P Diddy as matchmaker?

Travel back 10 years, to 2003 when Ashton and Demi first met. The 16 year age gap certainly didn’t put either of them off, as the 41-year-old Demi and 25-year-old Ashton hit it off, not at a dinner party thrown by P Diddy as was widely reported at the time, but at a play in New York. How romantic. The Ghost actress clearly knew how to dress to kill as she later told Harper’s Bazaar that she was wearing her “dress that gets results”.

We bet Ash couldn’t believe his luck! The cougar and toy boy didn’t go public with their relationship until June of 2003 as they hit the red carpet for the premiere of Demi’s film Charlie’s Angel: Full Throttle.

Wedding bells a ringing

The gorgeous couple got married in a Kabbalah ceremony on 24th September 2005 after dating for two years. Ashton, who was raised as a Catholic, converted to Kabbalah for Demi which led to lots of celebs sporting thin red bracelets to show their support for the religion.

The wedding was attended by Demi’s children; Rumer, Scout and Tallulah as well as their dad and Demi’s ex-husband Bruce Willis. The bride looked beautiful in a classic Lanvin gown whilst Ashton wore a Brooks Brothers suit and a fedora, proving he was hipster before being hipster was even a thing.

Happy families

In August 2006 Ash and Demi both publicly spoke about how secure they felt in their relationship. The Punked star told Parade that he and his new bride had only one fight in their first three months together: “We deal with issues before they become arguments”, he said.

In November, Demi explained her unusual family dynamic (she is still close with ex-husband Bruce Willis) “We spend all our holidays together,” she told Access Hollywood. “You have to work towards getting over what might have been awkward, or uncomfortable.”

Given the large age gap, people were speculating about the couple’s plans to expand their brood. In 2007, Demi spoke to Vanity Fair as she confirmed that she “most definitely” wants children with her young husband.

Welcome to the Twitterverse

Setting a trend for celebs everywhere, Demi and Ashton joined social networking site Twitter and started sharing every detail of their married life with their fans. For their fourth wedding anniversary the ever so romantic Kutcher tweeted his wife: “Happy anniversary @mrskutcher I’m not sure why we keep track of years in relation 2 an infinite love. But tradition wins 2day.”

Ashton tweeted this revealing snap of Demi’s bottom (Twitter:aplusk)

Mr K was also partial to a ‘cheeky’ pic or two as he tweeted: “Watching my wife steam my suit while wearing a bikini. I love God!”

Cheating rumours already

After just five years of wedded bliss, rumours started to spread that Ashton had been cheating on Demi. In a typically Kutcher-esque response, the couple took to Twitter to defend themselves: “I think Star magazine calling me a ‘cheater’ qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees”, tweeted Aston.

To which Demi replied, “Excellent point my love!” They then showed how strong their marriage was as Ash visited Demi whilst she was filming for a new movie.

Two and Half Men (Plus One Girl)

2011 marked the biggest year for Ashton’s acting career as he landed Charlie Sheen’s old job on the hit sitcom Two and Half Men and instantly became the highest paid sitcom actor on T.V.

However, just as his career was on a high, Ashton’s personal life hit an all time low, as yet more cheating allegations hit the headlines. A 22-year-old called Sara Leal was splashed over the cover of Us Weekly, claiming how she and the married man spent the night together in September.

Despite trips to several Yom Kippur services at the Kabbalah Centre in L.A. and a make-or-break camping trip to the Santa Ynez Valley, things looked bad for the couple. In October, Ashton was spotted sans wedding ring, sparking rumours that the pair were on the brink of separation.

On the 17th November 2011, Demi announced what we had all been expecting, that she with “great sadness and a heavy heart” she was divorcing Ashton after six years together. Ash took to Twitter once again to declare: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi.”

It was the end of @mrskutcher and the start of @justdemi. Sad face.

So what now?

Two years after separating, Demi and Ashton were granted a divorce on Tuesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Ashton initially filed for divorce from the actress in December 2012 citing irreconcilable differences. Since then it was reported there was some argument over spousal support, with the 51 year-old apparently petitioning for it, but it the end it was not granted.
