Angelina Jolie took on a mature look as she addressed the GB Foregin Ministers Summit on rape yesterday in London, showing off an abundance of grey locks as she highlight the serious issue which she claimed was not a “woman’s issue,” but a “global” one.
The 37 year-old actress, who recently made a trip to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda to highlight the issue, wore her tumbling locks in a slick backed bun for the important occasion, with slivers of white running through her usually dark locks.
With six children to look after we’re not surprised the actress’ is going grey a little early and clearly not as worried as her fellow Hollywood stars about appearing every young, looked fresh faced and relaxed as she addressed the gathered politicians to highlight the plight of women around the world.
She said, according to the MailOnline: “Hundreds of thousands of women and children have been sexually assaulted in the wars of our generation. But wartime rape is not inevitable.”
“This violence can be prevented, and it must be confronted. I have heard survivors of rape from Bosnia to (the Congo) say that the world simply does not care about them.”
She went on:”But today I believe that their voices have been heard, and that we finally have some hope to offer them.”
Referring to the ministers, she added: “It is encouraging to see men in leadership positions speaking out against rape. Rape is not a women’s issue, or a humanitarian issue, it is a global issue.”
Jolie has been the UN’s special envoy for refugees for many years and has done much to highlight the plight and issues of millions around the world in the role.
