American Idol 2013: Nick Cannon Slams Show’s Bosses For ‘Feeding’ Feud Between Mariah Carey And Nicki Minaj?

Last week saw Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey come to verbal blows on Twitter following their on screen spat on the show and now Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon has spoken about the ongoing feud between the pair by appearing to slam the show’s bosses for “feeding” the feud between the two ladies.

Giving his verdict on the drama surrounding his wife and Nicki, Nick said during his interview with The Talk recently:

“It’s kind of unfortunate. When you see someone like my wife, who tries to remain classy and tries to take the high road, it feels like everybody else around it – including the network and the producers – feed into this whole sound bite drama. It feels like it lacks substance.”

Believing that the American audience are “tired” of seeing Mariah and Nicki feuding, Nick continued:

“I think America in general is tired of seeing the mean judges and people be mean to people. They’re over it. In the book of Mariah Carey, American Idol will be a footnote.”

Whilst a rep for Nick has been approached for comment, a rep for American Idol declined to comment on the report.

Meanwhile, Mariah recently found herself in the centre of speculation that she was going to be replaced by former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez. However, the claim – reported by The Hollywood Reporter was quickly dismissed with a rep for the show stating:

“This is just another ridiculous Idol judge rumor, likely started by talks of Jennifer performing on the finale.”

The dismissal of the claims were later backed up by the show’s producer Nigel Lythgoe who added:

“I have not been included in any conversation regarding replacing Mariah with Jen this season.”
