Trimphant Lady Gaga Steps Out For Saturday Night Live After-Party Following Successful Hosting Debut (PHOTOS)

Her latest album may well have encouraged lukewarm responses from critics, but Lady Gaga’s hosting debut on Saturday Night Live went down a storm.

The 28-year-old won praise for her apparent ease in fronting the show for the first time, and she was quick to celebrate with an after-party in her native New York.

Gaga looked surprisingly demure in a smart black dress and sheer tights as she made her way into the venue, pausing only to greet the large group of fans grouped outside on the pavement before sashaying inside.

The Applause singer had previously featured in a series of skits on the show – amongst them the famous ‘3-Way’ video with Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg – but was making her hosting debut on Saturday evening.

Her appearance followed a comparatively disastrous appearance by Miley Cyrus – whose attempt at fronting the show was given a unanimous thumbs down – but an irreverent attitude and good comedy timing appeared to win fans over.

The singer also used her SNL platform to perform two songs from new album ARTPOP – Do What U Want and Gypsy.

Her third long-player received a mixed critical response following its release on November 11.

Despite sales remaining low when compared to the enormous success of its predecessor, Born This Way – which sold 1.1 million copies in its first seven days of release – it still climbed to the top of the UK album chart.
