Here we go again with another round of casting rumours for the anticipated Batman Vs Superman movie from Warner Bros, with the latest reports suggesting Orlando Bloom is the frontrunner to play Bruce Wayne opposite Henry Cavill’s man of steel.
The 36-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star has been ‘confirmed’ as a favourite to take on the role of the caped crusader by a senior source at Warner Bros:
“Orlando looks odds-on to get the part even before our first casting call. He would be perfect to play off Henry and I think US audiences would be happy with two Brits as the joint male leads,” the insider claims to the Express.
According to the report Bloom is expected to sign on as Batman by autumn before casting begins for more roles in the forthcoming Justice League franchise.
Orlando is just the latest name to be linked to the coveted role though, with reports last week suggesting that Ryan Gosling is a favourite among studio bigwigs.
Warner Bros have reportedly started the casting process by drawing up a shortlist of stars to take on the role of Batman in Zack Snyder’s superhero team up. The Hollywood Reporter claim that a diverse selection of names are on the wish list including box office draws like Ryan.
But the Only God Forgives star has some competition in the form of John Brolin and True Blood’s Joe Manganiello. At 32, Ryan is the youngest candidate on the list whilst Manganiello is thought to be one of the favourites after he narrowly missed out on playing Superman in Man of Steel.
Sources have claimed that Brolin is the “frontrunner” to play the role though with insiders suggesting that the studio is seeking an actor in his mid-40s to play a more “grizzled” version of Batman.
