Leonardo DiCaprio Admits He’s Got No Idea If He’ll Ever Win An Oscar

Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the world’s most acclaimed actors, yet after three attempts he’s yet to win an Oscar.

The star was first nominated for his role in 1993’s What’s Eating Gilbert Grape alongside for Best Supporting Actor. Fast forward twenty years and after two more nominations in the Best Actor category, for Blood Diamond and The Aviator and the star admitted he isn’t exactly sure what exactly he’s got to do to scoop one of those golden statues.

“I realised long ago you can’t control what people think is worthy of an award. That’s so beyond your control. It’s something one shouldn’t even attempt to manipulate, because, if you do, that’s transparent,” he said, according to The Sun.

“I have no idea (how I will get on), I really don’t.”

Could 2014 be DiCaprio’s lucky year?

He’s already been nominated for a Lead Acting award at the Golden Globes for his role in Martin Scorsese’s Wolf Of Wall Street, which tells the real life story of Wall Street stockbroker, Jordan Belfort.

The Paramount film also includes , Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, Cristin Milioti, P.J. Byrne and Ethan Suplee.

Jonah Hill recently spoke out about his role in the the upcoming movie, saying, as quoted by the Wall Street Journal: “I mean, being shot in slow motion doing cocaine by Martin Scorsese is, like, maybe every actor’s dream. Nothing will ever compare to it, except for maybe having kids one day or something.”

Hill also calls Scorsese his “actual hero,” and says that the film may shock viewers: “The humour comes from really awful places. I’ve done some pretty wild scenes. I’m not shy, but I would be shocked at what we were doing every day.”

The Oscar nominations won’t be out until January 16, with the ceremony taking place on March 2.
