She played the iconic character in two movies and is now heavily associated with her – but Angelina Jolie has revealed that she likes nothing better than killing off Lara Croft.
Jolie, 37, played the video game heroine in the 2001 film ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’ and then again in the 2003 sequel, ‘Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life’.
But the actress admitted that she liked killing her off when she played the video game because she liked the way she sounded when she died.
And she also revealed to Total Film magazine that she wasn’t initially too keen on the character when asked to play her, but changed her mind when she realised she could be a good role model.
She said: “I only eventually [played the role] because it’s about a very strong woman. It was exposing, but in a way where I thought, ‘I really like what she represents as a woman’, and so if I’m exposed in that way it’s okay.
“When I agreed to play her, I didn’t realise how much of an icon she was. There are magazines on where she went to school, and the music she liked… it’s very bizarre!”
Jolie has been making headlines for very different reasons this week after it was hinted that she and actor partner Brad Pitt are set to tie the knot this May.
The couple have been together for seven years, have six children and got engaged in April last year and there have been several rumours about a wedding, but the latest is that it’s a May wedding, timed to coincide with the Cannes Film Festival.
Grazia magazine claim an insider told them: “Everything is pointing towards the end of May or beginning of June.
“Their renovations are due to finish any day now and builders have been working around the clock to complete it in time. Plus all of Brad and Angelina’s closest friends in the industry will be in town for Cannes.”
