Guillermo de Toro Wants Justice League Dark To Spawn Marvel Style Movie Universe

Kanye West has already dubbed Guillermo de Toro’s latest movie Pacific Rim as one of his favourite films ever, and with the director so in demand thoughts are now turning to his next high profile project, Justice League Dark.

The director has been speaking about the anticipated movie during his promo tour for Pacific Rim and it sounds like DC Comics fans are in for a treat.

Based on the comic series of the same name, the film will bring together members of the DC universe including Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing and Constantine.

Del Toro first announced the big screen adaptation in January, revealing that he was penning the script. With DC comic’s hero Superman currently setting the box office alight in Man of Steel, there’s been talk of a Justice League movie, which like ‘Dark’ would bring together heroes including Superman and Batman.

In light of the Justice League rumours, Del Toro has revealed his hopes for a new movie franchise to rival Marvels’ The Avengers.

“I think that the great thing about the Dark Universe is that you have this possibility of basically creating this supernatural group, and you can play with different worlds, but I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel Universe,” he told MTV.”So if there is any correlation I will honour it.”

Del Toro added that he’s still working hard on Justice League Dark, revealing: “I’m writing it right now. I’m rewriting the outline. We have a writer that we’re waiting for, so I said to Warners I will rewrite the outline in the meantime.”

Before the Justice League projects come into fruition, Del Toro fans have Pacific Rim to look forward to with the blockbuster opening in cinemas on July 12.
