Gary Barlow Advises A*M*E ‘To Avoid Getting Sidetracked’ After Number One Single

A*M*E has been warned by mentor and record label boss Gary Barlow to “stay true to herself” and avoid getting sidetracked” as the youngster claims her first number one on the UK singles chart.

The 18-year-old, whose real name is Aminata “Amy” Kabba, has managed to knock off Ant and Dec’s ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble’ this week, with her track ‘Need U (100%)’ which features Duke Dumont. Reflecting on her chart success, the youngster who hails from Sierra Leone, admits that she is still in shock over the feat.

“It’s so crazy! I still can’t begin to believe it!” A*M*E said according to the Watford Observer. The singer also revealed that her mentor and X Factor judge Gary gave her advice on how to maintain a level-head as her career progresses.

“The most important advice he has given me is just be true to myself and keep doing what I’m doing. It’s really easy to get sidetracked and to lose your point of focus when you first start in the industry. So I’ve been staying true to myself and keeping it youthful,” she said.

A*M*E is certainly becoming one of the hottest names in music after being nominated for the 2013 Sound of 2012 Poll, working in Los Angeles with top producers on her debut album, while also confirming her next single, ‘Heartless’ will be released on June 23.
