Al Roker Blasts Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda Calling It ‘Vile’ And ‘Desperate’

Al Roker is clearly not a fan of Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda. The NBC host slammed the new video during the The Today Show.

Although the other hosts didn’t seem to pleased with the video either, Al didn’t hold back at all when questioned about the video.

“Do you smell desperation?” he said as he made a sniffing noise when the discussion started.

Revealing that he had found out about the video from his kids, he continued to show his disgust for it.

“It’s just vile… vile,” He added.

Al then decided to further explain his views. He believes that the video is Nicki Minaj’s way of taking back the spotlight from artists like Iggy Azalea.

“It almost seems like Nicki Minaj has gotten desperate and needs to do something to get her crown back,” he explained.

Al Roker isn’t the only one upset with Nicki. Hip Hop pioneer Chuck Creekmur also criticized the song artwork. As a father of a growing daughter, he was disappointed that Nicki Minaj released a provocative album cover despite being a heavy influence on young girls like his daughter.

“Now, the most popular, current Black female rapper starts overtly pushing her hyper-sexualized image again? Just my luck,” he stated in an open letter on MommyNoire. “I’m trying to raise a young girl that will eventually grow into someone greater than the both of us. I know that this requires great parenting, great education, great luck and an assortment of great influences. I’m sure you know the influence you wield.”

Nicki Minaj is set to perform at Sunday’s MTV VMAs, and if her video is any indication of what’s to come, these people will likely be in for a big disappointment.
