5 Stars Who’ve Ditched Their Vegan Diets
These 5 stars all tried vegan diets but ultimately decided not to keep the diet, ditching it to become vegetarians or meat eaters. Some kept up their vegan diet for many years, while others only gave it a quick trial run before deciding it just doesn’t suit them or they found it too hard to keep up. Finding it difficult to resist their temptations for cheese or other products that are off limits to vegans, these stars made the decision to allow themselves meat products and no longer restrict themselves to only vegan foodstuffs.
Ginnifer decided to ditch her diet because of health issues but felt guilty: “I’m not a vegan anymore… I’m always learning and growing and changing and there were some boring health issues… and so I did actually have to work some animal products back into my diet. The first thing I ate was an egg that I found from a humane farm… and I scrambled it up. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. I felt like a hypocrite and I cried and then I scrambled up another one.
Olivia quit veganism during her tough divorce: “I actually really like healthy food. I was hardcore vegan for years. When everything in my life became a little hectic, going through the divorce and everything afterward, I was like, ‘I need some goddamn cheese.’ And so I had some cheese.”
An insider reveals that Justin’s mood changed and he couldn’t stick it out: ”His mood took a major nose dive – he was such a brat. Soon everyone was begging him just to eat a steak. He ordered a tofu steak and tempeh tacos from Real Food Daily in Los Angeles and made a big show of spitting out the food and making gagging noises.”
Amanda tried vegan food but couldn’t give up cheese: “Normally, I’m a super healthy eater. I’m what they call a pescetarian [someone who abstains from all meat except fish] but I’ve tried veganism before. Anne Hathaway gave me a vegan sandwich on the set of ‘Les Miserables’ once, but my body didn’t take to it. I like vegetables, but I love cheese. I have a great relationship with cheese!”
Ne-Yo thought it was hard to keep up: ”I’ve gone vegan. There are more difficult things, but this is definitely a test of discipline. I just wanted to see if I could. It’s one of the most challenging diets and ways of life there is out there. No meat, nothing derived from animals. I can’t even eat honey as it comes from bees. I haven’t killed anybody yet! I told myself I’d do, at the very least, 30 days. As far as energy levels and all of that, there’s a very obvious change. On the other hand, there’s been other days when I could kill someone for a hamburger.”
