5 Star Moms Speak on Having Caesarean Sections
These 5 celebrity moms have all delivered children via Caesarean section. Although they may have alternative birth plans, when their pregnancy ran into difficulties they were forced to abandon their dreams of a natural birth and were forced to go under the knife to ensure the safety of their unborn baby on their delivery. Some found the experience difficult and did not like having to suddenly have an emergency c-section (understandably so!) but they are glad their baby made it safely into the world. Others have opted to have a c-section by choice and find they’ve made the best choice that suits them. See their personal stories below!
Camila found her pregnancy hard and was told she had to have one at the last minute: “This time around has been a really tough recovery. I had a really tough pregnancy; I had all kinds of things happen throughout the pregnancy and… I had really strong pains and I kept telling the doctors to find what it was, what was happening… Nobody could figure (it) out, so we ended up having to do a C-section and I told the doctor right before I went in, I said, ‘Once I’m in there, take a look because I know something is wrong.’ They end up finding all sorts of things that we had to take care of it (sic), so this recovery has been extremely hard because I had a C-section and then I had all these extra procedures…”
Linda says she almost died: “It was a very traumatic period. I had a really scary pregnancy and a very difficult delivery. My daughter and I are lucky to be alive… (The baby’s) heart rate dropped and she had the umbilical cord around her neck. We had to do an emergency C-section. It was very intense and scary. I’m so grateful that my daughter is alive and so thankful that we’ve all come out of it. We often forget how dangerous childbirth is… I never realised what an enormous amount of love I could feel for someone. Suddenly now that I have this beautiful, innocent creature to protect, I’ve become more aggressive and become much more of a mama bear.”
Molly had to change her birth plan when the umbilical cord was wrapped around her baby’s neck: “I wanted to do it naturally but there was a problem with the umbilical cord, so I had to have a C-section. It’s definitely scary because you have to go into an operating room – I walked in and then right back out.”
Pink had to have a c-section because her daughter Willow was in a strange position: “She was in the frank breech position, which is head up with her legs up by her head in a pike position. We tried everything to turn her around. Turns out this little girl had other plans – she is my daughter, after all. It all turned out perfectly in the end, even though it wasn’t what we intended, because she is healthy and happy and so am I. We’ll go for our natural birth next time, for sure.”
Tori has opted for c-sections for each of her children: ”I never say never but I think this is our last. I want to focus on the kids I have now and I don’t want to spread myself too thin. I’ve had C-sections with each baby. It puts the body through trauma. I don’t think I could do it again. [But] I’m all for adoption. It’s such an amazing blessing and we would totally do it. My friends adopted my goddaughter Simone who’s two and having seen the process through their eyes, I’m definitely a believer.”
