5 Celebs Speak on Their Young Daughters Wearing Makeup
Not wanting their kids to grow up quickly, these 5 star moms have spoken on the topic of their daughters wearing makeup as they grow up. All with young girls that are experimenting with their looks or just copying their mother’s makeup looks, these stars say how they feel about their off-spring trying on lipstick or giving eyeshadow a go. Some won’t allow it at all while others only keep it for special occasions and are happy to lend their products to their excited young daughter to play with and have fun dressing up.
Speaking on her young daughter Alice, Tina comments: ”She’s not into princesses anymore. One day she said, ‘Mom, I’m not into that. I’m into fashion.’ Alice has play make-up, or she’s played with my make-up. But I’m hoping [she doesn’t really wear it] till at least 14. I was maybe in eighth grade when I got some, like, coloured lip gloss or poorly applied base.”
Cindy’s daughter Kaia did a shoot for Versace’s young line and Cindy insisted that no makeup was used: ”I got called by Donatella Versace’s PR person, who I know because I’ve worked for Versace for years, and they said, ‘We’re launching this new kids line, we’d love to have Kaia’. And of course, I’m like protective mama, so I said, ‘Who is doing the pictures?’ I said, ‘I don’t want her looking like a tart. She can’t wear makeup’.”
Katie says her daughter Suri loves makeup and she’s trying to give her tips to make her apply it more subtly: ”My daughter Suri loves make-up. She’s only six! Usually I can’t find my make-up when her friends come over. I tell her to be subtle with it. You can always put more on. Start with one product. You wouldn’t wear all your jewellery at once.”
Kate will let her daughter borrow makeup but only as a treat: ”I lend my daughter my beauty products but only as a treat. If she’s going to a party I’ll let her borrow mascara or moisturiser. She’s only 13 and I always remind her how lucky she is to be using mummy’s things.”
Gwyneth says she is ok with her daughter Apple putting on mascara from time to time: ”When we’re home sometimes, she’ll put on mascara. And sometimes I’ll let her wear something out to dinner – but just a little dab.”
