5 Celebrities Open Up on Their First Kiss

We all have that treasured – or not so treasured – memory of our first kiss. Here are 5 celebrities detailing how it went for them. Some weren’t expecting it, others found it quite awkward or were too uptight and nervous in the moment to appreciate it. Others had fun and cherish the memory of their first ever smooch now. Looking back at that innocent first kiss moment, these 5 celebrities have shared their own personal experiences on the subject.

Niall Horan
41st Annual American Music Awards - Arrivals

Niall’s idea of French kissing was very literal: ”I was about 11 or 12 and it was my best friend’s French foreign exchange student. I don’t really remember it, but I know I was really nervous.”

Beyonce
"PUNK: Chaos to Couture" Costume Institute Gala - Arrivals

Beyonce was afraid and quite nervous: “I was about 12 or 13, and it was really embarrassing because every one of my friends had kissed boys two years before. I was scared to admit I hadn’t kissed anyone yet because I didn’t want to seem like a prude. I was nervous and I didn’t want to open my mouth, so I just gave him these awful tight lips.”

Jake Gyllenhaal
17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards - Arrivals

Jake says his first kiss was rather unexpected: “I was at a bowling alley and this girl grabbed me, pulled me outside, pushed me up against a car and stuck her tongue down my throat.”

Drew Barrymore

Drew’s first kiss was actor Breckin Meyer. She says she now cherishes the memory: “It was very nice and it was his first kiss too. We were with my girlfriend, but she wasn’t involved with the kiss, of course – it wasn’t anything kinky! “We played this card game with three rounds: round one was kisses with closed lips, round two was open mouth and round three was open mouth with tongues. It was so funny. It was so clinical in a way, but it was fun and it was sweet and it was safe. It was an innocent game. There wasn’t anything dirty or strange about it. It’s funny because when you’re a kid you don’t realise what you have – that innocence.”

Harry Styles
"The Class of 92" World Premiere - Arrivals

Harry’s first kiss was a bit awkward: ”The girl was really tall and I was really short. I had to get a brick, put it up against the wall and stand on it to give her a kiss because I couldn’t reach her face – and there was too much tongue!”
