5 Actresses Who’ve Had a ‘No Nudity’ Clause

These 5 actresses have all had a ‘no nudity’ clause written in to their contract during filming at one point or another. Some may have done nude scenes before and felt it just wasn’t for them or they didn’t feel comfortable with it, while others have vowed never to strip off on the big screen and refuse to compromise their beliefs for a role. Feeling so strongly about not wanting to have to get naked for their part, these stars have had a clause added to their contract to make completely sure they don’t have to and many of them feel that going nude for a role just isn’t necessary.

Chloe Sevigny

Chloe may have once done real oral sex on cam for her role in ‘The Brown Bunny’ but these days she says she is more conservative and doesn’t feel the need to do nudity any more: “I’m more self-aware now and wouldn’t be able to be as free, so why even do it (bare all)?”

Ellen Barkin

Ellen wouldn’t want her family to see but also doesn’t feel a film needs nudity: “First of all, my children would move out and never speak to me again (and) it wouldn’t really go over well with my husband. Even if I were single and didn’t have children, I would say, ‘It is not the time.’ Maybe if I had never done it as a younger actress, I would say, ‘Let me see what this feels like. Is it freeing?’ I just find it unseemly.”

Naomie Harris

Naomie doesn’t think she should need to strip as part of her job as an actress and thus won’t get naked on camera: “I don’t like nudity. I don’t feel it’s necessary. Taking my top off shouldn’t be part of my job; it shouldn’t be expected of me.”

Portia de Rossi

Portia says she’s done nudity in the past but doesn’t feel comfortable: “I have (done them) in the past, which is how I discovered I just didn’t want to do them. I really don’t think it’s because I’m gay; I just find it way too compromising. I don’t want to kiss somebody I don’t want to kiss… I don’t even like watching sex scenes in movies. I have a slight prudish side to me.”

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker jokes that she has never had to get naked in all of her years, so why start now? She commented: “I’ve got a no-nudity clause, what can I tell you? It’s been there since I was eight. It’s never been an issue.”
