The Hills star Whitney Port, whose net worth is estimated at $3.5 million dollars, is asking for money over the internet to fund her September runway show at New York this fashion week.
The 27-year-old reality TV star and fashion designer is seeking $50,000 to pay for models, hair, make-up and a DJ, making her plea through a crowd-funding site named Indiegogo.
The star is asking fans to give donations to her label Whitney Eve, ranging between one dollar and $450. That’s not cheeky at all…
Whitney claims in the accompanying video: "I'm doing something that's never been done before: the first-ever fan-supported fashion show at fashion week in New York."
In exchange for her fans’ donations, Whitney is offering recognition, so called ‘perks’ such as a ‘personal thank you on Twitter,’ ($5) and a front-row seat at the show ($450).
Despite being super rich and able to afford the necessities of her fashion show, Ms Port says that her fundraising endeavors are a means to share her art with her fans, ‘’involving them as an integral part of the process.’’
She explains: "Showing [your line] can actually be one of the most exciting moments of a designer's life. Having come off a successful show at New York Fashion Week last season, the time has come to show again but in a way that has never been done before.
"I want to provide my fans with a behind-the-scenes experience on how a runway show of this caliber is designed, developed, and executed," she added.
"A $250 donation will get you a visit to her New York headquarters; $300, a sneak peek at her pre-show fittings, and for $350, you can 'come back stage at the show," she continued.
That doesn’t sound like fashion bribery one little bit…
Whitney Port is summertime trendy...
