Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 ad campaign is a vision of autumnal bliss as fashion fanatics will be pleased to hear that the dreaded Spring/Summer trends are almost out of the window.
And the high end designer label picked up where its Paris Fashion Week show left off – aboard an LV Express steam train, with a few minor costume changes of course…
The new collection reflects 50s inspired classic looks combined with box shaped coats and dresses, slightly cinched in at the waist to create a flattering silhouette – almost every item featuring the oversized diamante flower buttons that LV are trying to trademark.
Steven Meisel shoots a cast of aspiring models on the lavish steam train for the latest ad, reaching back to the high fashion days of the glamorous first class train travel era.
Mackenzie Frazan, Marie Piovesan and Julia Nobis are amongst the lucky models that get to don the label’s latest outerwear, eye-catching bags and big feather embellished hats with Louis Vuitton’s iconic luggage as the main accessory. Of course.
Marc Jacobs jumped to the vintage-inspired looks that LV is channelling in their latest collection, saying: ‘’Whatever you try, clothes never really live in the past. They are worn now so they are modern, with a modern take.’’ Nice try.
The ad takes inspiration from the label’s March fashion show which saw a fully functional navy and gold steam train grace the platform-built catwalk. Guests were astounded by the grand spectacle of the steam train and the invitations issued as luggage tags were the only insinuation of such a show.
This Louis Vuitton collection proves how the giant label is striving to recapture the elegance of the bygone era of sophisticated travel with an array of stylish suitcases. But can they do it? You decide…
