When the economic outlook is pretty much doom and gloom, even in the fashion industry, it's no surprise that 'the Duchess Effect' is the most popular buzzword especially as Kate Middleton is giving fashion such a boost in sales.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who married Prince William last April, has been rocking all sorts of high street brands as well as high-end items, making her a favourite in the style stakes.

Kate, who has been pictured in everything from TopShop, Zara, Whistles and her favourite Reiss, has had such an impact on the industry with some companies boasting a £10 million increase in profits.

At the end of last year, we revealed that Reiss saw sales improve from £77.7 million to £87.6 million.

In a study by GLM, they found that even Pippa's bum was one of the most talked about topics in fashion.

Check out the top 10:

1. The Duchess Effect.

2. Peplum skirts.

3. Braids.

4. Pyjamas.

5. Pippa's bum.
