Celebrities are brilliant at some things - finding famous partners, snaffling freebies, wondering around all day without even noticing they've forgotten to put any knickers on - but their driving skills leave a little to be desired.
Amanda Bynes might be the latest lady to hit the headlines on account of her dodgy driving, but she's got a long, proud tradition of celeb motoring misdemeanors behind her. So who else has been unlucky when they've rolled the furry dice?
If anyone has seen and done it all by now, it's Britney. In 2007 Brit was charged with a misdemeanor count of hit and run, according to People magazine. She hit a parked car then left the scene, making no attempt to contact the driver - not even a nice note, saying "Ooops, I dented your car' then? She might have got away with it if the incident wasn't captured on camera by a celebrity reporter. Britney wasn't charged, put paid the car's owner around $1,000 in damages.
January Jones may have made the transition from on screen evil mother to real life earth mother, but back in 2010 life was imitating art as she appeared to be copying boozy Betty Draper. According to TMZ, January struck three parked cars and eyewitnesses (or nose witnesses) believed they "smelled alcohol on her breath". She left the scene, returning in a different set of clothes. However, police did not breathalyze her, and it is believed the crash occurred because she was being chased by paparazzi.
Car trouble sometimes befalls the most prestigious actors. In February 2000, Oscar winner Halle Berry drove through a red light - and got charged with a misdemeanor hit and run. Halle crashed into another woman's car, but didn't stick around. However, according to People magazine, she reported the accident to the police when she arrived in hospital. She is believed to have received 22 stitches for a deep cut on her forehead, and was sentenced to 250 hours community service and a three year probationary period. She settled out of court with the driver.
Of course, the queen of car crashes - literal and figurative - is Lindsay Lohan. The star has been in trouble for DUI offences and partying on numerous occasions, and on Wednesday she hit a pedestrian in her car in Manhattan. Insiders believe that she had been drinking, but these reports are unconfirmed.
