Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were rumoured to have cancelled their appearance together at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, in what would have been the first time that the pair would've come face-to-face since pictures of Kristen merged with another man – Rupert Sanders.
The 22-year-old was reported to have 'dropped out' of the award ceremony so she could avoid an awkward show-down with her 'Twilight' co-star and rumoured ex-boyfriend Rob, but now it has emerged that Kristen was never going to be able to attend, even before the pictures of her with the married father-of-two emerged.
Kristen is set to promote her new movie 'On The Road', in which she stars opposite Rob's best pal Tom Sturridge, at the Toronto Film Festival on September 6, a source told the New York Daily News, meaning that she couldn't attend the VMAs too.
Even though reports have suggested that MTV execs were looking into reuniting the 'Twilight' stars, her schedule put an end to the speculation.
A spokesperson for MTV has said: “We have not made any announcements with regards to this year's VMA presenters.”
Last week it had been reported that the MTV “bosses were hoping that Kristen and Robert would be surprise guests before this scandal blew up," a source told The Mirror. “The idea was for them to jointly present awards…but that has been changed.”
