Last night was an amazing night for London as the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony went off without a hitch in the capital.
There were a string of famous faces in the Danny Boyle-helmed spectacle - not least Queen Elizabeth II, who popped up in a VT with Daniel Craig as James Bond before appearing to jump out of a plane. It was, of course, a stunt double, but she was a great sport for agreeing to it.
Other highlights included a cameo from Rowan Atkinson playing in the 'Chariots of Fire' orchestra, JK Rowling doing a reading, Dizzee Rascal popping out to perform 'Bonkers', and appearances from Emeli Sande, Paul McCartney and the Arctic Monkeys.
But of course, let's not forget the athletes - as the sportsmen and women from all of the competing nations made their way into the stadium there was an unavoidable feeling that we're in for a special two weeks here in Britain.
