Tom Cruise will allegedly take further steps to make sure he gets custody of his daughetr Suri after his divorce from Katie Holmes.

Holmes filed divorce papers on Friday 29th June in New York where it's said state laws will give her a better chance to gain full custody of their only daughter six year old Suri. However it seems Cruise has not taken that lightly and is preparing a response asking that divorce proceedings in New York are halted.

Radar Online has reported that a close friend of the couple has said Cruise;
"will file a response in New York, asking that the divorce proceedings be halted in the Big Apple because California is the proper venue for the matter to proceed. Team Cruise is going to assert that Katie doesn't meet the residency requirements to file in New York, and that both live full time in California, specifically Los Angeles," a source close to the situation told the website.

"At the same time, Tom will file for divorce in California, and will most request joint custody of Suri. There is absolutely no way that he is going let Katie have sole custody.  The battle lines are being drawn, and this is going shape up to be a very contentious custody battle," the source continued.

Tom's representative has said that he is saddened by all this and wants to concentrate on his three children.

This is Cruise's third divorce. He was previously married to Mimi Rogers, and later Australian actress Nicole Kidman.
