The Stone Roses Triumph At Comeback Gig

75,000 people come to Heaton Park concert

It was one of the most anticipated gigs of the year - and the Stone Roses didn't disappoint. 75,000 fans came to Heaton Park in Manchester to watch Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni play their first UK show in 16 years.

The band opened with 'I Wanna Be Adored', a classic track from 1989, and featured a series of crowd pleasers in their set list - including 'Fools Gold', 'Waterfall', 'Love Spreads, 'Ten Storey Love Song' and 'I Am The Resurrection'. Never ones to shy away from controversy, they dedicated 'Elizabeth My Dear' to "those parasites down the road...celebrating 60 years of tyranny!"

Celebrities in the audience included Rio Ferdinand, who tweeted: "Stone Roses tickets just
arrived...can't wait now! What a group!"

David Beckham is said to have revealed that The Stone Roses bring back memories of the happiest time in his football career according to sources at Manchester Evening News.
