The stars of Rock of Ages hit the red carpet yesterday for the star-studded UK premiere. Tom Cruise, Russell Brand and Julianna Hough all turned out at London’s Leicester Square but were outshone by co-star Malin Akerman who dazzled in a barely-there nude dress with lead detailing.
Tom Cruise stars as rock god Stacee Jaxx in the Hollywood re-make of the comedy musical. But the 49 year-old star looked a million miles away from his alter ego as he failed to impress in jeans and a jumper.
Not exactly the red carpet finest we expect from the 'Mission Impossible' star. Russell Brand, who arrived with beloved mother Barbara stuck to his usual leather get-up though the star looked a little drab in brown as he posed for photographers.
Perhaps he was feeling upset about his ex-wife Katy Perry who was also in London spending a very public weekend with new boyfriend Robert Ackroyd. It was the female stars who stole the spotlight, Malin Akerman clearly benefiting from the absence of co-star Catherine Zeta Jones.
The blonde looked stunning in her sheer dress which she accessorised with sky high gold shoes and fierce red lips. Rising star Julianna Hough failed to dazzle in a black and silver gown which was not up to her usual red carpet standard.
The 23 year-old definitely stood out on screen though thanks to her sizzling chemistry with Tom Cruise. Julianna, who is dating Ryan Seacrest recently revealed that a sexy lap dance scene with Tom Cruise had to be cut because it would be too much for female fans to handle.
“It got caught because apparently mothers didn't like Sherrie Christian after that. It was a little too hot and steamy and sexy. It will be on the director's cut, though,” she said on US show Live! With Kelly.
She added: “Let’s just say I’ll always have that in my back pocket, that I gave Tom Cruise a lap dance.”
Celebrities stuck to the rock theme as they arrived with Suzanne Shaw, Sinitta and Katie Waissel all doing black leather outfits.
