Dannii Minogue Ex Kris Smith: 'We're The Best Of Friends'

Dannii Minogue's ex-boyfriend Kris Smith has said their young son Ethan has helped him through their split.

The couple announced their split last month, just weeks before Minogue's 2007 relationship with Simon Cowell became public knowledge.

Speaking on Australian breakfast show The Circle, former rugby star Kris said: "It's a massive struggle, but you know we're the best of friends and we have a massive mutual respect for one another. Just taking one day at a time."

Of 21-month-old Ethan, he said: "He's sensational. He just picks you up every single day. He's a blessing."

Minogue left The X Factor in 2010, after mentoring Matt Cardle to victory.

She missed the audition and boot camp rounds of the competition due to the pregnancy.
