Last night's American Idol results show proved to be a shocker when host Ryan Seacrest announced that front runner Jessica Sanchez had been eliminated from the show.
As the result that Jessica was in the bottom three with Elise and Joshua was read out, the judges looked on in shock. Responding to the result, the Washington Post reported Randy Jackson saying: "I've never seen this happen. This is a ridiculous Bottom three, America! I’ve never said this: They got it wrong tonight."
Following the initial shock, Ryan went onto reveal that Jessica had been eliminated after receiving the lowest amount of votes. Having accepted her fate, Jessica then took to the stage to perform, however it was cut short when Jennifer stormed the stage and told the hopeful to sit down.
Snatching the mic from Jessica, Jennifer said: "Give me that mic! This is crazy!…You aren’t going home - Go sit down!” Supporting Jennifer, Randy and Steven Tyler joined Jessica on the stage.
Deciding that it was the right time to use their save card (which enables the judges from sending the eliminated hopeful home), Randy shouted:
“We are saving Jessica, without a doubt! This girl is one of the best singers in America! Ever! Are you kidding me? Please, everybody vote for the best! This about finding The Best!”
Whilst Twitter went crazy over the night's events - one viewer tweeted: “Oh my god #thesave was INSANE!!!! I almost died!!!!!!!!! @RyanSeacrest America is crazy!!!!!! And I live here!!!!” - Randy told E! News what he thought:
"I think every season it happens every time", he said. "It's funny that Ryan and I were remarking tonight that Jennifer Hudson was on, we used the save for her and she came in sixth. You look at the stardom she's got, but what I think what happens, honestly, is people forget to vote and they think their favorites are safe. I mean you saw that bottom three. Oh my god, it's like 'What's going on?'"
