Love is in the air and so to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, here are some of our favourite reality TV couples who we have seen get it together on the small screen. From public romances to secret liasons, we take a look back at some of the sweetest (and also the most shocking) relationships of last year.
On Strictly Come Dancing we witnessed the burgeoning romance between EastEnders actress Kara Tointon and professional dance partner Artem Chigvintsev. Not only did they have chemistry on the dancefloor, eventually winning the competition, but they also fell for each other off of the dancefloor, and moved in together just nine months later.
The Only Way Is Essex’s Lucy Mecklenburgh and Mario Falcone have had a rollercoaster ride, with Mario dumping Lucy after she cheated on him with Mark, and then after getting back together Lucy dumping Mario for sending sexy emails to other girls. However, once more all seems to be forgiven, as the pair were spotted only a few days ago enjoyed a PDA-filled dinner together recently.
The youngest of the Kardashian sisters Khloe was the first to the altar after marrying basketball star Lamar Odom in 2009. It was a whirlwind 30-day courtship followed by a splashy Hollywood wedding, and they have since have had their every move filmed for their reality show Khloé & Lamar, which is about to start its second season.
Strictly Come Dancing's only married couple James and Ola Jordan are rivals on the dancefloor, but despite often having to dance with young, good-looking celebrities, such as presenter Alex Jones and former footballer Robbie Savage, they are still very much in love. Both have admitted to missing each other during long rehearsals with their Strictly partners, but they confess that it just makes them appreciate each other that little bit more.
Jersey Shore star Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi is known for her wild side, but she has calmed down since finding love with boyfriend Jionni LaValle. Although Jionni isn’t a regular fixture on the show, Snooki is constantly tweeting photos and lovey dovey messages about her man. The couple have been together over a year and the reality star has hinted that wedding bells could be in their future, although she recently had to deny rumours that she’s pregnant.
Geordie Shore's Gaz Beadle insists he loves Charlotte Crosby 'to bits,' although the 23-year-old hunk has admitted the pair have a 'weird connection,' and he continues to be romantically involved with Charlotte despite meeting other girls. Their on-off romance was one of the central storylines in the first series of the MTV show, but we hope this series Gaz sorts it out and the two love birds finally get it together.
Although Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack and X Factor contestant Harry Styles have a 15 year-age gap, the two fell for each other and secretly dated for several months. Following pressure from the general public and their management the two star-crossed lovers decided to call it quits. At the beginning of the month Harry took to his Twitter to defend his cougar ex after the split: "Please know I didn't 'dump' Caroline. This was a mutual decision. She is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know."
It can be difficult for even the most ardent of Jersey Shore fans to keep track of whether muscle-bound guido Ronnie Magro and Sammi ‘The Sweetheart’ Giancola are currently dating. They've split up multiple times, with rumours of infidelity on both sides, but have a habit of getting back together whenever the Jersey Shore cameras are rolling. The cute couple angered their housemates in previous seasons with their fiery arguments, but for now the pair seem very much in love.
They are, no were, TOWIE’s cutest couple, but Lydia Bright and James 'Arg' Argent split earlier this year leaving fans of the show devastated. Although Arg still wants to get back with Lydia, she has been making an effort to get over her boyfriend of four years, amid rumours that he had cheated on her while they were together. We’re still holding out hope that these crazy kids will get back together!
Everyone was shocked when it was revealed that One Direction's Zayn Malik was dating fellow X Factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson after love blossomed during The X Factor Live tour earlier this year. Mum-of-two Rebecca had denied the 7 year age gap was a problem, however, it appears as though the 'Nothing's Real But Love' singer found it harder than she thought, and the two suddenly split over the summer.
