Madonna’s latest foray into film ‘W.E’ had it’s London premiere last night with the ‘Material Girl’ glittering on the red carpet emblazed with the film’s title.

Black and red seemed to be the colours of the night as Madonna matched her black Jean Paul Gaultier sleek dress and Dolce & Gabanna lace shawl with striking red lips and leather gloves.

The stars of the film followed her lead with actresses Natalie Doomer and Andrea Riseborough sticking to the colour scheme. The Tudors actress looked stunning in a tight black lace dress with Andrea, who takes on the role of Wallis Simpson in floor-length red.

The male stars were as equally dashing with James D’Arcy who plays playboy royal, Edward VIII looking relaxed in a grey suit and open shirt. A smart Richard Coyle was joined on the red carpet by wife Georgia Mackenzie who sparkled in a floor length peach dress.

The film is a fictional take on the romance between American divorcee Wallis Simpson and the British king Edward VIII which lead to his abdication from the thrown when he was not allowed to marry her.

Despite being panned by critics, Madonna seemed to enjoy her time on the red carpet and lapped up the attention from fans.

A host of stars turned up to support the First Lady of Pop with actress Emillia Fox and designer Matthew Williamson both opting for black.
