Zac Efron got hearts racing as he learnt to surf as part of a charity event at Sydney's Bondi Beach, Australia.

The High School Musical star took to the waves with champion Australian surfer Layne Beachley, who is also the wife of INXS band member Kirk Pengilly.

The charity event was organised by Oakley sunglasses and Zac looked the perfect poster boy in the brand's shades and t-shirt.

We wonder where Vanessa Hudgens was? She would have enjoyed watching a usually co-ordinated Zac, flounder on a surf board.
