Taylor Swift's mother confronted Kanye West after the rapper interrupted her daughter's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, it's been claimed.

Andrea Swift is understood to have requested to speak to rapper backstage at Radio City Music Hall in New York to question him about the incident.

When the pair were introduced, Andrea “tore into [West]”, who made no formal apology, according to People magazine.

The rapper appeared to confirm that he had met with Swift's mother when he posted on his blog that she had “said the same thing my mother would have said”.

As Entertainmentwise reported earlier, West offered an emotional apology to Swift on The Jay Leno Show last night.

The rapper was close to tears as he said he wanted to take time away from music to consider his actions.

West took to the stage on Sunday to complain that Swift had won the prize for Best Female Video over Beyonce.
