Jade, her mother and Jack appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007. Jade was branded a racist for her treatment of housemate Shilpa Shetty, referring to her as "Shilpa Poppadom". Her behaviour resulted in more than 45,000 viewer complaints and was condemned by Gordon Brown. The Indian public responded by burning pictures of Jade in the street.
