In the mid-eighties, Michael befriended a chimpanzee called Bubbles who had resided at a cancer research clinic in Texas. He brought Bubbles to live with him in California. In 1996 photos of MJ apparently asleep in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. It was alleged that the singer used the chamber in a bit to halt the aging process but years later, it was discovered that Michael leaked the pictures himself as a publicity stunt.
