Katie Holmes made a rare public appearance without husband Tom Cruise or daughter Suri on Sunday.

The actress glammed up to host the Independent Filmmaker Project's 30th Anniversary in New York City.

Looking stunning in an Alexander McQueen satin halter neck and pants combo teamed with Givenchy sandals, Katie seemed to be enjoying her solo night out.

She told reporters: "I'm really honored to be here because they do so much good in helping filmmakers to show their voice and their talents."

Katie is back in NYC after after a short stay in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio, where she attended the funeral of her sister’s husband, who passed away unexpectedly at just 48.
