Goodie bags worth thousands of pounds are handed out to guests of honour, desginers scramble to kit out their celebrity  clientelle in red carpet stunners (unless you're Bjork and go dressed as a swan) and the Paparazzi are in for rich pickings as snaps of the Film Industry's elite are emblazed on every front cover of every magazine across the globe
