Larry King Pays Tribute To 'One of A Kind' Barbara Walters As She Announces Retirement

But Whoopi Goldberg doesn't care about her co-host's upcoming retirement...

The world was left reeling when Barbara Walters revealed that she is planning to completely retire from appearing on ANY television show in 2014 - and iconic TV host Larry King, particularly, is feeling the loss already.

Barbara made her announcement live on television earlier today, making sure to assure her fans that she is in perfect health and that her retirement has been a long time coming.

And Larry King, shortly after the announcement, decided to pay tribute to "one of a kind" Barbara Walter's career in style. Twitter-style, that is:

However, while Larry was clearly moved to hear that Barbara will be leaving the world of television in the not too distant future, media outlets have trawled back over the recent words of her co-host Whoopi Goldberg to US Weekly - and decided that the Sister Act star "doesn't care" about Babs' retirement:

"Let me tell you this about The View: I take a paycheck every other week. That's all I do. I could give a s**t what comes. I do my job — I have a contract. That's where I stand. I don't give a f**k.

"I don't care [about casting decisions]. That's not my job."

ABC News President Ben Sherwood said of Walter's decision to leave: "There's only one Barbara Walters, and we look forward to making her final year on television as remarkable, path-breaking and news-making as Barbara herself.

"Barbara will always have a home at ABC News and we look forward to a year befitting her brilliant career, filled with exclusive interviews, great adventures and indelible memories."
