Emotions were running high for Nicki Minaj on last night's American Idol. However, this week, it had nothing to do with Mariah Carey. Instead it was Candice Glover's performance that lead Nicki to let tears fall from her eyes.
With all to play for ahead of next week's season finale, the three finalists Candice Glover, Kree Harrison and Angie Miller made sure they gave it their all after returning to their hometowns during the week.
However, it appears the night was stolen by Candice whose homecoming video left Nicki fighting back the tears. Speaking after seeing the VT, Nicki told the talented singer: "That video was so emotional and so hard for me to watch. You have come out swinging in this competition - I just - am so proud of. I have to tell you that I am so proud of you."
But that wasn't the end of Nicki's praise for Candice as the 'Pound The Alarm' singer continued: "Women suffer from so much insecurity about who they are and how they look and I have to say you seem to be the most confident woman on that stage every single night, and I love that about you.
"You are going to inspire so many women around all the world - and it's not black, it's EVERY woman, no matter who they are, what they look like. You come on that stage and you just own who you are and it's reflected when you sing, every time you sing."

As the night went on, it just got better for Candice as her rendition of 'Somewhere' had the judges gushing and stating that she will be in the final next week. Commenting on her performance, Keith Urban said: "This is what's gonna happen - if you want to vote for Candice dial the number on your screen. If you don't want to vote for Candice call your doctor, you probably don't have a pulse.
"What was that? How do you DO that?"
Stating that Candice, 22, has the greatest vocals in "Idol history", Randy Jackson added: "She had one of the greatest vocals in Idol history. Guess what? She had another one! You are such a pro. It was so incredible - this was like a singing LESSON. Oh my God I'm so proud of you."
Mariah simply mused: "A plus. Amazing!", as Nicki added: "Four words: see ya next week."
Reacting to Nicki's comments after the show, Candice told E! Online: "I think Nicki knows better than anyone what it's like to come from nowhere basically and to have your career be so big. She's phenomenal.
"Going back [home], I remember driving down the same road I used to just stand on with my cousins and not have anything to do. Like working a job and then coming home and having to put all that money into bills and just being miserable. And I think she knows what that feels like so that's why she got emotional and was just so proud of me."
