Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes stole the show at the annual Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala - but for all the wrong reasons.

Wearing a white Armani dress-coat, Posh’s attempt at Old Hollywood glamour aged her significantly beyond her 34 years.

Not even her heavily-painted face and coiffed hair could rescue her frankly scary appearance.

Her husband David looked like a toyboy stood next to her.

Katie Holmes didn’t fare much better in a garish tangerine Armani frock accessorised with electric blue stilettos.

Her orange skin and citrus-coloured make up made her look like a giant fruit on the red carpet.

Other stars at the event included Jennifer Lopez, newly engaged Scarlett Johansson, Christina Ricci, the Olsen twins.
