Rupert Everett Slams Jodie Foster's 'Coming Out' Speech

After having a pop at Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and George Clooney, Rupert Everett has turned his attention to Jodie Foster and her recent ‘coming out’ speech.

Jodie appeared to confirm gossip about her sexuality when she paid tribute producer and long-time ‘companion’ Cydney Bernard as she collected an award at the Hollywood Reporter Power 100 lunch in L.A earlier this month.

She said: "(Thank you to) my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss."

But openly gay Rupert dismissed this foray out of the closet as insignificant, insisting she is too old for it to have an impact on other closeted stars in Hollywood.

He says: "She is 45 and just couldn't be bothered anymore. After a certain age you can be gay in Hollywood. Before that, it's not only not good, it's impossible."

  • What a prick! Maybe she's waited so long because she didn't want the scrutiny and second-guessing of a-holes like Rupert Everett. Get some class, Rupert.

  • Wow Rupert, when did you get so bitter and judgemental? Live and let live I always say.

  • jodie foster, um.... fostered nothing BUT scrutiny and 2nd guessing by not coming out. no one was fooled and by not acknowledging the obvious she only created interest in her Big Secret. lee: grow up.

  • Doesn't affect my admiration for one of the best actors in the business. I'll continue to look forward to her next film(s). Way to go, Jodie!

  • I have always been a HUGE fan of Jodie Foster and really don't see her coming out as a big deal. I hope she finds happiness with whomever she chooses!
