Girls Gone Wild Founder Sentenced To Serve Jail Time

Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis has been ordered to serve jail time for contempt of court.

The multimillionaire was ordered to prison yesterday (April 4) and had until noon today to hand himselp into police.

A federal judge made the order after lawyers who had been in the process of suing him complained to authorities that unknown to them at the time, Francis had substantially changed the conditions of an offer all parties had agreed to.

This is the second time Joe, who is said to have dated both Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, had been ordered to serve jail time in the space of a week. US DU.S. District Judge Richard Smoak found Francis in contempt of court last week after lawyers of seven women who had filed a civil suit against him, complained he had shouted obscenities and threatened them during settlement negotiations.

Smoak ordered Francis be arrested last Saturday if he didn?t reach a settlement in the case. The order was suspended after the judge learnt that Francis had made an offer the plaintiffs later agreed to.

"He may have snookered us and gotten out Saturday," Smoak said, "but he's coming back"

Francis' lawyer, Mike Dickey, told the judge he was "stumped" by the development.

The judge reinstated the civil contempt order and said he would look into possibly starting a criminal contempt process. The News Herald report that Francis also increased the amount of money he would have to pay to the plaintiffs' lawyers.
