Bloody hell! That little black dress worn by the devastatingly gorgeous Audrey Hepburn in ?Breakfast At Tiffany?s has fetched an unprecedented ?467,000 at auction in London this afternoon.
The Givenchy dress had expected to fetch ?70,000 at Christies, by bidders reportedly went crazy for the dress which, in the end, was bought by a telephone bidder.
According to the BBC this is the most ever paid for a dress worn in a film; it could well be the most famous dress in the world!
All profits from this afternoon?s charity auction will go towards the City of Joy Aid Appeal that aims to improve the lives of India?s poorest families.
French author Dominque Lapierre who set up the charity said of the dress: "There are tears in my eyes.?
"I am absolutely dumbfounded to believe that a piece of cloth which belonged to such a magical actress will now enable me to buy bricks and cement to put the most destitute children in the world into schools."
There is no doubt that the charity minded Hepburn would be overjoyed with such a wonderful result.
