She might be an idiot. A desperate one at that.
An Instagram model has been grilled by police after she put her life at risk by dangling off the side of one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers to get a perfect ‘shot’.
While it might not have been a selfie quest, Instagram beauty Viktoria Odintcova, 23, pulled the dangerous stunt and posted the video to her Instagram page, which has over 3million followers.
In part of the video, the model – who appeared relatively relaxed considering the terrifying conditions – could be seen clinging to an assistant as she clambered slowly over the edge of the 73-storey high tower.
The risky (and stupid) shoot took place on the top of Dubai’s Cayan Tower, which stands at 1000ft tall.
Now the model has signed a written statement to state that she will never repeat the ridiculous stunt again, according to The Sun.
Major General Halil Ibragim Al-Mansuri, of the Dubai Police, told the tabloid: “The actions of the Russian woman put her life at risk.”
The model previously said that she had been nervous over the shoot, and wrote on Instagram: “I still can’t believe I did it. Every time I watch the video my palms go sweaty.”
While some commenters were in shock over the stunt, some branded it “reckless” and “stupid”.
“Crazy! Looks like god gave you beauty but seems like he forgot to grace you with a brain,” one wrote.
While another Instagram user said: “How can you disregard your life like that?”
Some feared that she would spark a death-defying ‘Internet craze’, as one said: “So irresponsible and stupid. What if people try to copy this?
“Proving beauty doesn’t equal intelligence. Speechless by the amount of stupidity. No apparent safety equipment or precautions.”
But Odintcova has remained defiant in the face of potential legal action over the unauthorised photoshoot.
“I didn’t want to hurt the reputation of the city,” she told The National. “I hope we can resolve this misunderstanding.”
She also added: “We deserve a reward for disclosing weaknesses in the security of that building. We were at the rooftop of that building without any evil intentions; however, someone else could have come out there to commit suicide or an act of terrorism.”
