When the Spice Girls reunited for the premiere of new musical Viva Forever! this month, Victoria Beckham looked like she'd rather be anywhere else but next to her bandmates, and now a source has claimed the reason for the snub is Vic's determination to be a Vogue cover star.
2012 saw Victoria team up with the Spice Girls for a performance at the Olympic closing ceremony and to promote the musical based around the girl group's hit songs. Victoria is known for her pout but it's no secret the fashion designer was more reluctant than her fellow Spices to dust off the platforms again.
A recent documentary that explored the group's rise to worldwide fame also drew attention to the split in the group, whilst the other girls were shown attending rehearsals for the West End musical, Victoria was nowhere to be seen. She didn't even walk the red carpet with her bandmates at the premiere of the show earlier this month.

Now, the real reason for the snub had apparently come to light. According to Now! magazine, Victoria is distancing herself from her past popstar life as she's secretly terrified of upsetting US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Apparently Victoria has finally achieved her dream and landed a much coveted spot as a Vogue cover star for the mag's February 2013 issue.
The fashionista may have graced the covers of countless overseas editions of the fashion tome, including UK Vogue, but it's always been the flagship US title that she's aspired to.
"The Spice Girls were on the January 1998 cover of US Vogue and that's the problem, a source tells Now!
"Anna still saw Victoria as a former Spice Girl and WAG and said it was the wrong image for the mag. Victoria's made great strides changing that, but she fears one wrong step could make Anna have an about-turn. She's sweated blood to get the cover and wasn't going to let Viva Forever! ruin it all."
With Beyonce rumoured to be the star of the March 2013 cover, it looks like Vogue is chasing the big names in 2013- will Victoria be one of them?
