She may not have released much new music in the last year, but Britney Spears has been named the highest-earning woman in music for 2012, according to a new list compiled by Forbes.
The 'Scream and Shout' singer signed a $15 million deal at the beginning of the year to star as a judge on X Factor USA alongside Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato.

However, most of Britney's income has come from her 2011 Femme Fatale tour which grossed $68.7 million worldwide, accompanied by the album of the same name and also her popular fragrance with Elizabeth Arden in addition to other endorsement deals.
While $58 million is an impressive figure for someone who has released any fresh material in the last 12 months, it is slightly less than the $64 million Britney earned in 2010.
2013 is set to be another huge year for Britney, 30, who is hoping to score a number one with her Will.i.am collaboration 'Scream and Shout', while it has also been revealed she will releasing her eighth studio album next year.
Explaining Britney's continued success despite her breakdown in 2007, music attorney Lori Landew, who helped Britney score her first record deal, says the singer has an ability to always connect with her fans.
"Britney has an electricity that connects with audiences on screen and off, and it is that intangible quality that always seems to leave her fans, old and new, breathless," Lori told Forbes.
Trailing behind Britney on the highest-earning list is Taylor Swift, who earned $57 million from her 'Speak Now' world tour, while Rihanna follows with $53 million.
Lady Gaga took home an impressive $52 million while Katy Perry earned $45 million after dominating the charts. Beyonce and Madonna also made the list.
